Description
In 1746, Daniel Abbott donated the land on which the fountain sits to serve as a public square and gathering place. In 1875, the cast iron fountain was conveyed to the city in the name of Abbott. The two-tiered cast iron fountain sits in a large circular granite basin. Elaborately decorated, the fountain includes three gilded putti figures bound together in the top tier as well three large, gilded acanthus leaves on the bottom tier.
