Description
The portrait bust shows Garibaldi with a mustache and full beard; he wears contemporary clothing with a scarf tied at his neck. A rich blue-green color, the plaster bust is meant to be seen from the front. The bust rests atop a granite pedestal with inscriptions on the front and back.
The city relocated the portrait bust from the Rhode Island College (formerly the Rhode Island College of Education) to Garibaldi Square on October 13, 1975, under Vincent A. Cianci Jr., Mayor of Providence.
