Description
The George M. Cohan Memorial is a bust portrait of the famed songwriter of such tunes as "Give My Regards to Broadway," "The Yankee Doodle Boy," "Over There," and "You’re a Grand Old Flag." The artist Robert Shure modeled Cohan in a collared shirt, bowtie, vest, and jacket with a carnation in the lapel buttonhole. Caught in the act of taking off his hat, Cohan appears to be singing, his mouth open and his Adams apple bulging. The bust rests atop a granite base marked with the names of the streets that intersect at the plaza. The Fox Point memorial was dedicated on July 3, 2009.
