The Dedication
The dedication ceremony took place on November 17, 2007 adjacent to the Dyer landing at the Providence River’s head of navigation. Patrons and co-chairs of the endeavor, Dr. Patrick T. Conley and Gail Cahalan-Conley arrived at the dedication by boat with some of the other committee members, representing their ancestors' journey across the ocean by water.[1] About four hundred people attended the dedication and celebratory Mass held at the city’s Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul.[2] The New Port Ancient Order of Hibernais Pipe and Drum Band led the procession into the cathedral and opened the dedication ceremony at the site.[3]
